Nellie Ann Ticknor, 95, a former resident of Cavalry Crossing Apartments and more recently of Medicalodges, died Sunday, June 12, 2011, at Medicalodges. She was born July 28, 1915, in Fort Scott, Kan., the daughter of Pete G. Pavey and Bertha E. Hutcherson Pavey.
Nellie first married Frederick William Cook on Dec. 2, 1939, at Oklahoma City. He preceded her in death in 1950. She later married Richard E. Ticknor on Jan. 18, 1954, at Kansas City, Mo. He died Sept. 26, 1985. Nellie had worked as a nurse's aide at nursing homes in Lockwood and Eldorado Springs, Mo. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Fort Scott.
Survivors include two sons, Fredrick Allen Cook, Fort Scott, and Paul William Cook, Moore, Okla.; a daughter, Beverly Ann Hall, West Virginia; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Also surviving are two brothers, Paul Pavey, Fort Scott and Albert Pavey, Independence, Mo. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Hubert and Percy Pavey and a sister, Alberta Conner.
Pastor Tim Davish will conduct funeral services at 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 15, at the Cheney Witt Memorial Chapel. Burial will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery.
