Kids' Fun Triathalon, Bike Rodeo encourage summer health

NEVADA -- The Nevada Multisport Club, Osage Prairie YMCA and On My Own, Inc. encourage summer health, fitness and safety by offering a Kids' Fun Triathlon and Bike Rodeo.

The Nevada Multisport Club and the Osage Prairie YMCA are presenting the Second Annual Kids Fun Triathlon May 21. Encourage your kids to dust off their bikes, rinse off their goggles and put on their running shoes and swim, bike and run their way through the triathlon course. The event will take place Saturday May 31 at the YMCA, 500 W. Highland, Nevada.

Check-in closes at 2:45 p.m. and the pre-race meeting will be at 3. This is a free, non-competitive, fun event for kids age 3-12 years old. Life jackets, training wheels, and parent assistance are welcome and required when needed. Participants will be awarded a gold medal, triathlete wrist band and a frozen treat.

The event is offered free of charge. All athletes will enter their race number to win a new bike. Sign up at the YMCA. For more information call (417) 667-9622.

The Nevada Multisport Club is also partnering with On My Own, Inc. to offer a Bike Rodeo for children June 30 from 4-6 p.m. in the On My Own parking lot, 428 E. Highand, Nevada. The first 50 children who register will receive a free bike helmet. To register for the event call On My Own at (417) 667-7007, extension 24.

Participants will be able to register their bike with the Nevada Police Department, practice the rules of the road on a bike course, wash their bike and learn helpful safety information. Refreshments will also be given to participants and their family members. There is no fee to participate in the bike rodeo.
