FREDDIE JOE"FRITZ" THOMPSON

Freddie Joe (Fritz) Thompson, age 80, resident of Kansas City, Mo., died Monday, May 2, 2011, at his home. He was born May 24, 1930, in Fort Scott, Kan., the son of William Miles Thompson and Eva Ruth Shannon Thompson. He married Mary Louise Herrill on July 14, 1950, in Bentonville, Ark. Following high school, he graduated from Fort Scott Junior College. Following his tour of duty with the Air Force, he returned to Pittsburg State University and retired as an accountant with the Bendix Corporation in Kansas City. He was a veteran, having served in the United States Air Force from 1951 to 1955. He was of the Protestant faith.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Louise, of the home in Kansas City and a brother, Miles William Thompson, Manhattan Beach, Calif. Also surviving are two sisters-in-law, Sue James and Shirley Windsor, both of Galveston, Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents and a son F. Michael Thompson in May of 2009.

Rev. Chuck Russell will conduct graveside services at 11 a.m. Thursday in Memory Gardens Cemetery. Military Honors will be conducted by the Olson Frary Burkhart Post No. 1165 Veterans of Foreign Wars. The family will receive friends at the Cheney Witt Chapel from 10 a.m. to leaving for the cemetery at 10:45 a.m.
