Chairman of the 2011 Kiwanis Easter Egg Hunt

To the Editor:

It's with a grateful heart that I write once again to thank everyone who participated in the April 19 and 20th American Red Cross Bloodmobile at the Danny and Willa Ellis Family Fine Arts Center on the campus of the Fort Scott Community College.

Our college drive is always a delightful experience and we were blessed to collect 162 units of blood. Those 162 units of blood have the potential to save the lives of 486 people right here in our own community.

A special thanks to Vanessa Poyner and all the coordinated volunteers from the college who gave of themselves during our two-day invasion.

The Fine Arts Center is a beautiful facility and we were all very well taken care of during our two days on campus.

I truly wish the privacy guidelines did not prohibit us from printing our donor's names within our thank-you article.

It's my greatest wish that everyone in our community knew who our great donors are by name. I am proud to know each of you and I look forward to seeing and visiting with each of you during each drive.

I hope you know that even though I cannot print your name in the newspaper, your name is inscribed within someone's heart because of the selfless gift of life that you have given.

The next scheduled American Red Cross Blood drive will take place at the Community Christian Church on June 15 from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. and again on June 16 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

If you are not a member of our life-saving team, please consider joining us every 56 days and give the gift of life. To schedule your appointment, call 1-800-GIVE LIFE.

Thank you again and we wish you and yours a fun and safe summer.

Whendi Martin, Executive Director
