Pittsburg State University marks Earth Week

In preparation for the 41st celebration of Earth Day on Friday, April 22, the University Sustainability Committee and a number of student groups have come together to sponsor a week of events that highlight sustainability.

Thursday, April 21

Festivities begin with Science Day for area high schoolers, featuring Biology Bowl, Chemistry Capers and Physics Events.

From 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., the student organization Green Gorillas will host a community fair on the Oval with booths from student organizations and area businesses that support green initiatives. Additionally, Sodexo will host a Pittsburg Farmer's Market on the Oval from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Friday, April 22

Nature Reach will host a free program on raptors at 12:30 p.m. in the Crimson and Gold Ballroom. From 5-7 p.m., the International Student Association will offer its second annual Night Market with food and cultural items from a variety of different countries. And at 7 p.m., the Office of Alumni and Constituent Relations as well as the Student Activities Council will show a free, outdoor movie, "Avatar," on the Jungletron.
