Wanda was born Oct. 22, 1928, Fort Scott, Kan. to Leo T. and Eva O. (Provence) Smither. She graduated from Paola High School, Paola, Kan. She worked for The Adjutant General Staff Liaison office for the Department of Defense at Fort Riley, Kan., until her retirement in October 1988. Following that, she sold real estate in Junction City, having worked for Olmstead-Davis Realty, Summers & Company, and Matlock Johnson Realtors in the past and with the Sheila Burdett Agency since 2000.
Wanda was a member of the National Active and Retired Federal Employees Association, the National Association of Realtors, the Kansas Association of Realtors, and the Junction City Board of Realtors. She served as secretary/treasurer of the Junction City Board of Realtors for seven years. Wanda was a member of the Elks Lodge, the Junction City Chamber of Commerce, and volunteered with Habitat for Humanity.
Wanda was very well known for her classy and impeccable fashion taste and she will be greatly missed by her family, co-workers and many friends.
She is survived by three sons, Donald (Don) and wife Louise Williams of Topeka, Kan., Greg Williams of Lake Dallas, Texas, and Jeff Williams of Sherman Oaks, Calif., her sister Nadine Rose of Fort Scott, Kan., and four grandchildren; Kathryn, Kristin, Sarah and Lindsey.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
