Lenora M. Hood age 81, a resident of Fort Scott, died Wednesday, March 23, 2011, at the Mercy Health Center.

She was born Sept. 18, 1929, at Fort Scott, Kan., the daughter of Charles A. Lightwine and Elena May Hazlett Lightwine.

Lenora married Edward Lee Hood on Aug. 31, 1946, at Fort Scott, Kan.

He preceded her in death on Nov. 12, 1991.

She had worked as a cook and housekeeper for area nursing homes. She enjoyed reading.

Survivors include a son, Kevin Hood and wife, Dianne, of Fort Scott, Kan.; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and two sons, Robert and Edward Hood.

There was cremation. Rev. Reed Hartford will conduct a graveside service at 10 a.m. Monday, March 28, 2011, at the U.S. National Cemetery.

Friends and family may meet at the Cheney Witt Chapel prior to leaving for the cemetery at 9:45 a.m.

Services are under the direction of the Cheney Witt Chapel, 201 S. Main, Fort Scott.
