Wanda YeVonne Johnson, age 54, a resident of Merriam, Kan., died Monday, March 21, 2011, at her home.
She was born Nov. 30, 1956, at Bay City, Texas, the daughter of Harry Shadden and Coleen Joles Shadden.
Wanda married Ronald Gene Johnson on Jan. 12, 1976, at Nevada, Mo. He preceded her in death on Jan. 24, 2009.
Wanda had worked as a CNA for Fort Scott Manor for several years.
She was an active church member and also enjoyed taking care of her family. She enjoyed arts and crafts and flower gardening as well as going to the races.
She is survived by seven children, Ronnie Shadden a brother, whom she raised like a son, and his wife, Liz, Fort Scott, Kan.; Dana Shadden, Merriam, Kan.; Waylon Johnson and Stephanie, Fort Scott, Kan.; Alecia Johnson, Nevada, Mo.; Vickie Floyd, Fort Scott, Kan.; Becky O'Bryan and Everett, and Delinda Johnson and Eddie, all of Nevada, Mo.
Also surviving are her brothers, Tynce Joles, Fort Scott, Kan.; Harry Sid Shadden and wife, Dolly, Fulton, Kan.; Steve Shadden and wife, Janet, Elsmore, Kan.; and Richard Shadden, Great Bend, Kan.; and a sister, Pauline "Suzie" Shadden, Lenexa, Kan.
Also surviving are 31 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Sharon Shadden.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m., Friday, March 25, 2011, at the Cheney Witt Memorial Chapel.
Burial will follow in the U.S. National Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday, at the Cheney Witt Chapel.
