Sara Levesta Carson, age 91, a former resident of Kincaid, Kan., died Sunday, Feb. 20, 2011, at the Medicalodges of Fort Scott. She was born May 18, 1919, in Irwin, Mo., the daughter of Robert Earl Spurling and Cora Ann Greer Spurling.

Sara married Paul W. Carson on May 2, 1939 in Nevada, Mo. He preceded her in death on July 24, 1990.

She had worked as an aide at Mercy Hospital, a cook for Medicalodges and enjoyed taking care of the elderly.

She was a member of the Pentecostal Church of God.

She loved collecting dolls and antiques and spending time with her family.

Survivors include two daughters, Wanda Darlene Guder and husband Russell, Bronson, Kan.; and Carol Sue Witcomb and husband Wayne, Kincaid, Kan.

Also surviving are two sisters-in-law, Dorothy Spurling and Velma Spurling; 12 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by two sons, Robert Wayne Carson and Paul Junior Carson; four brothers, Everett, George, Elbert and Wilbur Spurling; one sister, Betty More, two grandsons, Mark Carson and Robert Eugene Carson; and a great grandson, Skyler Winningham.

Pastor Lloyd Houk will conduct funeral services at 2 p.m. Friday in the Cheney Witt Chapel, with burial following in the Clarksburg Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until service time Friday at the funeral home.
