Oleta Love, age 94, former resident of Redfield, Kan., died Tuesday, Feb. 15, 2011, at the Guest Home Estates in Fort Scott.
She was born July 27, 1916, the daughter of Vernon McElmurry and Rose Siegler McElmurry.
She married Sam F. Love on Feb. 10, 1940, in Fort Scott. He preceded her in death on Dec. 8, 2002.
They worked together raising their sons and running the family farm.
She enjoyed gardening and cooking for her family. Baking was her gift, especially her sugar cookies and apple dumplings.
Oleta was a member of the Mt. Orum Baptist Church in Redfield.
Survivors include two sons, Bob Love and wife Joyce, Fort Scott; and Jerry Love and wife Marilyn, Redfield; four grandchildren, Michele Owenby and husband Bo, Brian Love and wife Loree, Jason Love and wife Kelly, and Galen Love and wife Melissa; two step-grandsons, Lane Walker and Shane Walker and his wife Jana; 11 great-grandchildren and three step-great grandchildren.
Also surviving are two brothers, Rex McElmurry and wife Alice, Fort Scott; and Ray McElmurry, Santa Cruz, Calif.; and one sister Ella Stone and husband Max, Bakersfield, Calif.
Besides her husband, Sam, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Olaf and Elrod McElmurry; three sisters, Delores Beerbower, June Severy, and Gwen Carpenter; as well as her parents.
Pastor Waylon Ingle will conduct funeral services at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday in the Cheney Witt Chapel.
Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 1:30 p.m. until service time at the funeral home.
