ONLINE FIRST: FSCC games rescheduled; home Saturday

Wednesday, February 2, 2011

Fort Scott Community College's basketball games at Johnson County, originally scheduled for Wednesday night, have been rescheduled for Monday night at Overland Park. The women's game will tip off at 5:30 p.m. with the men to follow at 7:30.

All but three Jayhawk Conference doubleheaders were called off Wednesday due to the major snowstorm that affected the midwest. All of those games -- Colby at Pratt, Hutchinson at Seward County and Cloud County at Barton County -- were scheduled in towns that were behind the major storm front.

Independence at Coffeyville, Butler at Dodge City, Kansas City at Cowley and Allen County at Highland were tentatively rescheduled for tonight. Labette and Neosho County was also moved to Monday night while a make-up doubleheader between Cloud and Dodge City, first moved to last Monday, has been postponed again until Tuesday. Since Jayhawk Conference-Western Division teams were already scheduled to play conference games Monday, this means Cloud and Dodge will both play on three consecutive nights.

Fort Scott's teams host Labette Saturday at Arnold Arena with the women tipping off at 2 p.m. followed by the men at 4. Greyhound women (3-7, 6-16) lost to Labette, 57-54, at Parsons on January 5 while Fort Scott's men (1-9, 2-19) beat Labette, 61-57, that same night.

FSCC's men have lost 27 of their last 29 conference games -- 42 of their last 45 overall -- with the only two conference victories coming against Labette (0-10, 2-20).

The Cardinals' last conference win came on the final day of regular-season play last season, 85-77, over Allen County. Overall, Labette has lost 21 of its last 23 games.

Other games postponed included Tuesday's Pittsburg State-Southwest Baptist MIAA doubleheader, tentatively rescheduled for tonight, and a Big 12 game between Baylor and Oklahoma at Norman, Okla., which was made up Wednesday afternoon. Oklahoma offered free admission to the game.
