Herman W. Tyler, 89, of Arcadia, died at 4:08 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 16, 2011 at Via Christi Hospital at Pittsburg, Kan.
Mr. Tyler was born Oct. 23, 1921 at El Dorado Springs, Mo., the son of Fred and Grace Myers Tyler.
Herman worked for Dunton's Furniture Store in Arcadia and later as a truck driver for Crawford County Highway Department.
He was raised in El Dorado Springs, Mo., and attended El Dorado schools.
He had been a resident of Arcadia most of his life.
Herman married Iris L. Garrett on Dec. 24, 1949 at Fort Scott, Kan. Mrs. Tyler preceded him in death on Feb. 11, 1997.
He was a member of the Arcadia Christian Church.
Survivors include two daughters, Debbie Jeck and her husband Dave of Pittsburg; and Vicki Hudson and her husband Michael, of Joplin, Mo.; four grandchildren, Damien Tiregol, Jesica Montanelli, Stuart Jeck and Tyler Jeck; three great-grandchildren, a brother, Bud Tyler, of Lawrence, Kan.; and a sister, Shirley Allen, Watsonville, Calif.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, four brothers and two sisters.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Jan. 19, 2011 at the Bedene Funeral Home at Arma, with Father Larry Parker officiating.
Burial will be at the Pittsburg Garden of Memories Cemetery. The family will receive friends 10 a.m. to service time Wednesday at the Bedene Chapel.
