Mildred Florence Leamon, 89, of Arma, Kan., died Wednesday morning, Dec. 1, 2010 at the Guest Home Estates.
She was born Jan. 2, 1921 in Arma, Kan., the daughter of Joseph and Nancy Eva (Fox) Lessen.
She married Charles Omer Leamon July 24, 1946 in Arma, Kan. He preceded her in death Aug. 24, 2006.
Mildred graduated from Arma High School in 1939 and went on to get her BS and Master's Degrees from Kansas State Teacher College.
She was a Business Teacher in Mound City, Kan., and also in Arma.
Mildred also was the owner and operator of Leamon's Variety Store in Mound City.
She was a member of the Arma United Methodist Church, the Oscar Dewey Chapter No. 77 Order of Eastern Star in Mound City, and the American Legion Auxiliary of Arma.
She served as chairwoman of the Crawford County Republican Party, and she was a member of the PSU Alumni Association.
Survivors include her two daughters, Mary A. Childers and Robert of Fort Scott, Kan.; and Nancy J. Brown and Don of Appleton City, Mo.; three grandchildren, Michele Lyon, Ben Brown, and Rachel Brown; and three great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, Charles, she was preceded in death by her parents, and a brother, Robert Lessen.
Pastor Don Foster will conduct funeral services 1:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 3, 2010 at the Konantz-Cheney Funeral Home with burial following at the Fort Scott National Cemetery.
The family will receive friends prior to services on Friday from 12:30 p.m. until service time at the Konantz-Cheney Funeral Home.
