She was born May 24, 1948, in Fort Scott, Kan., the only child of Walter and Mary Kendig. She spent her school years in Fort Scott.
On April 19, 1965, she married Marc Marcano. Carol continued her education, graduating from PSU in 1970 with a B.S. in social work and in 1973 with a B.S. in nursing.
Marc and Carol lived in Pittsburg, Kan., Colorado, and Detroit, Mich., before settling in Kansas City in 1974. There they raised their four children. In 2009, Marc and Carol retired to Pittsburg.
Carol spent her professional life as a registered nurse. She was skilled in her field, conscientious and compassionate, the go-to medical person to her friends and family.
Carol took her greatest joy in her family. Her beloved husband Marc and her four children were the center of her life. Her house was always comfortable, her cooking superb and her generous hospitality always there for all.
Carol had a keen wit, smart conversation and will be greatly missed by her family and her many friends. She was a completely original individual and her absence in this world will be felt by all who knew her.
She is survived by her husband Marc of the home; children, Christopher Marcano and wife, Shannon, and grandson, Fletcher, of Kansas City, Mo.; Nicholas Marcano, of Kansas City; Caitlin Marcano, of Omaha, Neb.; and Anthony Marcano, of Pittsburg.
