On April 16, 1930 born Maxine Corrine Brown, in Kansas City, Kan., she was the first child born to Essick Brown and Berneda Lucille Brown. Her parents preceded her in death.

She was the eldest sister of Olene M. Brown - Singleton and both sisters spent a majority of their childhood with Grandmother Corrine Finley and relatives.

Maxine was a very accomplished woman. She was a professional hair dresser, entrepreneur and clothing designer who could duplicate designs from sight. She owned a tailor and dressmaker shop, she designed hats, shoes, and purses. She was an upholsterer and a wonderful cook who made designer cakes before people even knew what designer cakes were.

In 1985, at age 55 she acquired her Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from Pittsburg State University.

Maxine had a loving and caring spirit who loved the Lord and gave her heart to the Lord. She never met a stranger and her heart and home were always open. She had a wonderful ability to listen which can be told by many. She embraced life to the fullest and enjoyed every minute.

On Oct. 21, 2010 Maxine Corrine Young, after a long illness, departed this life. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and one child, Mary Elizabeth.

She leaves to cherish her memory seven children, 13 grandchildren, 47 great-grandchildren, and nine great-great grandchildren. Sister, Olene Singleton, Grandview, Mo.; children, Saundria Jennings, Oakland, Calif.; Lois Smith, Kansas City, Kan.; Barbara Lockett, Kansas City, Kan.; Pandora Davis, Raymore, Mo.; Donald Maynard, Los Angeles, Calif.; Carolyn Banks, Fort Scott, Kan.; Rhonda Sue Turner, Monroe, La.; and many nieces nephews, cousins and other relatives.

She will be missed, but as much as we love her, God loves her more.
