Raymond Peter "Bud" Hartman, age 89, a resident of Oelrichs, South Dakota, died Friday, Oct. 22, 2010, at the Fort Scott Manor in Fort Scott, Kan.
He was born Nov. 6, 1920, in Defiance, Iowa, the son of Johann W. Hartmann and Kate Hulsebus Hartmann.
Bud made his living as a wheat farmer and cattle rancher on his farm located five miles north of Oelrichs, South Dakota.
His passion for farming and for the Kingdom of God influenced every part of his life.
Mr. and Mrs. Hartman moved to Fort Scott, Kan., in June of 2009 in order to be near their daughter and son-in-law, Twila and Ken Ash.
Survivors include his wife, Mary of Fort Scott, Kan.; three daughters, Bonnie Shuttlesworth and husband, Bob, Oelrichs, S.D.; Twila Ash and husband, Ken, Fort Scott, Kan., and Mary Sandra Owens and husband, Ron, Chugiak, Alaska; and a foster-daughter, Lucy Salway.
Also surviving are eight grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers, Harry, Ed, Lou, Glenn and Alfred Hartman; a sister, Gladys Harris and a granddaughter, Keeta Owens.
Rev. Shane Ash will conduct funeral services at 10 a.m., Friday, Oct. 29, 2010, at the McColley's Chapel of the Hills in Hot Springs, South Dakota.
Burial will follow in the Smithwick Cemetery, Smithwick, South Dakota.
Local arrangements are under the direction of the Cheney Witt Chapel.
