Levi "Sam" Thompson, resident of Fort Scott, Kan., and formerly of Wrightwood, Calif., died Oct. 17, 2010 at KU Med Center.
He was born July 11, 1948 to Levi and Elnora Thompson of Fort Scott.
He was a furniture designer, artist and poet.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers: Douglas L. Thompson, Fort Scott; and George R. Thompson, Canon City, Colo.; and one sister: Mary Brown, Wichita, Kan.
Survivors include five children: Tambria Thompson, Kansas City, Kan.; Chris Thompson and wife Hannah, Costa Mesa, Calif.; Samantha Innes and husband Chris, Newhall, Calif; Meaghan Thompson and Patrick Magee, Santa Clarita, Calif.; Taylor Thompson and Derrick Chrisinger, Oakhurst, Calif.; two step-sons, Eric Valdez, Phoenix, Ariz.; and Sean McGowan, Glendale, Calif.; 11 grandchildren: Dustin, Ambrosia, Tara, Jessica Shapiro, Fort Scott, Kan.; Antigony, Ronnie, Dru, Robbie, Lorelai, Isabel and Sid; and two sisters: Marjorie Lawhead, Canon City, Colo.; and Julie Elbrader and husband Robert, Fort Scott, Kan.
He was cremated, with burial to follow at a later date.
