Debate team earns title at Paola, Olathe North

For the third week of the season, the Tiger debate squad splintered into two separate squads.

One group headed to Kansas City to compete at Olathe North. After five rounds of competition, the top-four records for Fort Scott gave them a 17-3 overall win/loss total, which was good enough for the tournament sweepstakes title.

The team was led by the varsity performances of Daniel Lyon/ Baker Weilert (5-0 1st) and Chase Rooks/ Matt Carrillo (5-0 3rd). At the novice level the pairing of Jordan Traxler and Bethany Robison earned honorable mention for their 4-1 efforts.

Also, coming away with winning records were Ackland Milton/ Rebeka Khajehpour and Halle Gregory/ Danielle Cliffman each with 3-2 finishes.

At Paola, the Tigers also found success as their top-three record of 12-3 earned them the title there as well. The team was led by top competitors of: Jeff Durbin/ Leah Casselman(4-1 3rd), Tony Jackson/ Katelyn Torres (4-1 4th) and Reed Ramsey/ Ashley Allen (4-1).

The Tigers are off to another great start as just three weeks in; they have five top-three finishes with four of those being championships.
