Donald Eugene Conklin, age 49, resident of 112 Brookview Road, Pittsburg, Kan., died unexpectedly, Friday, Sept. 24, 2010, at his home.
He was born May 27, 1961, in Coffeyville, Kan., the son of Jasper "Jack" Conklin and Katherine Brown Conklin.
Don was a graduate of Coffeyville High School and attended Pittsburg State University.
He served in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Korea.
He married Tammy Wade on Sept. 8, 1984 in South Coffeyville, Okla.
He worked as a para-professional in the school system and volunteered on many youth projects.
He was a member of the Christ Community Church in Pittsburg. He also was co-administrator of Team Kong on the Pittsburg College campus.
Survivors include his wife, Tammy, of the home; his mother, Kathy Conklin, Coffeyville, Kan.; three sons, Donald Conklin Jr., J. R. Logan, and Rusty Conklin, all of Pittsburg; two daughters, Tamara Dawn Logan and Kandi Conklin, both of Pittsburg.
Also surviving is a brother, Bill Conklin, Coffeyville, Kan.; three sisters, Patty Kinsey, Vinita, Okla.; Jackie Scott and Liz Cunningham both of Coffeyville; and two granddaughters, Sara (Sarabara) Logan and Kandace (Katie Bug) Logan.
He was preceded in death by his father, Jack Conklin and father-in-law and mother-in-law, L.L. and Betty Wade.
Pastor Jim Sukraw will conduct funeral services at 11 a.m., Wednesday in the Cheney Witt Chapel. Burial will follow in Mt. Olive Cemetery at Pittsburg.
The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the Cheney Witt Chapel.
