The last rays of sunshine peak over the Fort Scott Post Office and former Hartford building (left) just before powerful thunderstorms struck Fort Scott late Thursday afternoon. The storm brought torrential rain, cloud-to-ground lightning, high winds and flash flooding. Fort Scott High School's soccer game at Ellis Park was suspended when lightning started becoming a threat to the safety of the players.
