He was born Nov. 8, 1929, in Lonoke County, Ark., the son of Edward Haley and Susie Isbell Haley.
Thomas married Velma Hansell in 1952. They later divorced.
He married Wanda Wyckoff Daniels on April 22, 1996, in Harrison, Ark.
Thomas worked for the Darby Ship Yards in Kansas City and later for the Kansas City Missouri School District from which he retired.
He was a veteran of the United States Army serving from 1951 to 1953.
He was a member of the Community Christian Church in Fort Scott and was active in the 55 Plus Class. His hobbies included camping and dancing.
Survivors include his wife Wanda, of the home in Nevada; two daughters, Beverly Haley, Boston, Mass.; and Tina Arney and husband Chuck, Lee's Summit, Mo.; two step-sons, Lawrence Daniels and wife Connie, Nevada, Mo.; and Dr. Paul Daniels and wife Sherrie, Moundville, Mo.; three step-daughters, Janet Murphy and husband Pat, Fort Scott; Janice Williams and husband Garen, and Liz Lechman and husband Van, all of Nevada, Mo.
Also surviving is a brother, Clarence "Dick" Haley, San Diego, Calif.; 20 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a step-son, Charles Daniels and a brother, Harry Haley.
Rev. Kevin Moyers will conduct graveside services at 11 a.m., Wednesday, Aug. 25, 2010, in the U. S. National Cemetery.
Military Honors will be provided by the Olson Frary Burkhart Post No. 1165 V.F.W.
Friends may meet at the Cheney Witt Chapel prior to leaving for the cemetery at 10:45 a.m.
