Concerning the above article, the Aug. 9 meeting of Senior Citizens was held on Monday as stated. The noon dinner was enjoyed by 11 present including a new member, Raymond Kalm, of rural Garland. Jan Mayfield took blood pressure readings assisted by Betty Jones representing Arma Care Center. Preident Lilly Conrod opened the business meeting with the Flag Pledge and Lord's Prayer. Secretary and Treasurer's reports were read and approved. Mary Lee Payne, Mary V. Shead and Jerry Coonrod read short stories for entertainment. Jerry also gave the dinner blessing. Others present were Jack Payne, Ava Mae Adams, Helen Sisney, John and Judy Rawlings and Jim Kunsler. The next dinner meeting will be Sept. l3 with business meeting and Bingo following.
The Old Settlers Festival of Arcadia will be held on the second Saturday, Sept. 11. Mary V. Shead has been invited to be the Grand Marshall of the parade that will start at 10 a.m. Line up will be at 9:30 a.m. in the City Ball Park on William Street. A planned Fall Festival committee meeting was held Snday afternoon, August 1, at 3 p.m. in Christian Church Parsonage.
