TOPEKA -- A series of workshops to discuss T-WORKS, the state's new transportation plan, will begin next week in Wichita.

The Kansas Department of Transportation (KDOT) will host four in-person workshops and one webinar over the next three weeks to provide information about T-WORKS and to help communities and individuals get organized for the local consult meetings which will be held in each KDOT district this fall.

The same information will be presented at each workshop, which will include an overview of T-WORKS, an update on the Local Consult process, as well as concurrent sessions on: Local Consult, Practical Improvement, Fund Exchange, Aviation, Transit, Rail and Economic Development.

"I encourage all Kansans with an interest in transportation to attend one of the upcoming workshops," said Kansas Department of Transportation Secretary Deb Miller.

"As we move closer to selecting projects that will be constructed under T-WORKS, it's critical that we continue discussions with Kansas communities and transportation stakeholders so that we can make the most of our transportation funds by stretching the dollars as far as possible," she added "These workshops will provide communities the information they will need this fall as the process continues."

The closest workshops will be held at the Olathe Holiday Inn, 101 W. 151st St., on Sept. 1 and Lamplighter Inn, 4020 Parkview Dr., in Pittsburg Sept. 2. Both will be held from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m.
