Marjorie Frances Berg Peterson, age 88, resident of Lamar, Mo., formerly of Fort Scott, Kan., died Sunday, Aug. 15, 2010, at the Barton County Memorial Hospital in Lamar.

She was born Aug. 3, 1922, in Salina, Kan., the daughter of Wallace Berg and Emma Blanche Mentzer Berg.

She graduated from Salina High School in 1940 then attended beautician school.

She worked in Salina, Kan., as a riveter during WWII and later in California at a bakery.

She married Victor Lewis Peterson on Aug. 15, 1951, in Princeton, Texas. He preceded her in death on March 10, 2004.

Marjorie enjoyed needlework, embroidery and reading. She was in the process of re-studying the German language. She believed in continual learning and studying throughout life. She was a woman of prayer who loved her family dearly. She attended the St. John's United Methodist Church.

Survivors include a son, Dallas Peterson and wife Connie, Fort Scott; daughter Beverly Thatch and husband Del, Lamar, Mo.; daughter Rebecca Collins, Lamar, Mo.; and son Blake Peterson and wife Gina, Pittsburg, Kan.

Also surviving are 19 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren with one more on the way.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Charlotte May Weis, a brother, Daniel Dwight Berg, an infant son, Shelley Byron Peterson, a great grandson, Gabriel Collins, as well as her parents.

Pastor Dallas Peterson and Blake Peterson will conduct funeral services for Marjorie Peterson at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 18, in the Cheney Witt Chapel. Burial will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 9 a.m. until service time at the Chapel.
