The thermometer display at Citizens Bank, N.A.'s south branch at 23rd and Main streets told most, if not all, of the story late Wednesday afternoon. The unofficial high for the day was 106 degrees and the heat index was reported to be as high as 115 degrees.
An excessive heat warning remains in effect for the area until 9 p.m. Friday night. The string of 100-degree days is expected to break on Saturday when a chance of thunderstorms and partly cloudy skies will drop temperatures into the lower 90s. For more details, see the 3-day forecast on page 2.
