Sharon Horton, 66, Pryor, departed this life on July 23, 2010 in Pryor, Okla., at the age of 66 years, 10 months and three days.

She was born on Sept. 20, 1943 in Fort Scott, Kan., to Joe and Nada (Krull) Sisk.

Sharon grew up in Fort Scott, Kan. She attended school there and graduated from Fort Scott High School with the class of 1961.

She continued her education at Pittsburgh State University where she received her Bachelors of Art degree and got her Masters in English at Northeastern State University.

Sharon taught sophomore class Honors English at Claremore High School for 25 years, retiring in 2002.

Sharon had lived in Pryor since 1980.

She was a member of Oklahoma Education Association and National Education Association.

Sharon was married to Gary Horton on April 2, 1967 in Fort Scott, Kan.

She enjoyed gardening, baking, sewing and traveling.

She loved the Lord with all her heart and she was a "prayer warrior" for anyone that was in need of a prayer.

Her family was very important to her and she will be missed by many who knew her.

Sharon is survived by husband Gary of the home, daughter Rochelle Butcher and husband Matthew of Locust Grove, daughter Michelle Hamm and husband Kevin, DO, son Joseph Horton and wife Rebecca of Claremore, five grandchildren: Jamie Stockham, Mercedes Horton, Jordan Horton, Aaron Hamm, Zach Hamm, one great-grandchild Kaysen Stockham, her mother Nada Sisk of Pryor and mother-in-law Hazel Horton of Pryor, long time friend (sister) Judi Mayhew of Dallas, Texas.

She was preceded in death by her father Joe Sisk and father-in-law Pete Horton.

The family will receive relatives and friends on Tuesday, July 27, 2010 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Stephens Memorial Chapel.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 28, 2010, 10 a.m. at First Baptist Church, Pryor. Pastor Steve Parker and Dr. Mike Cox will officiate.

Graveside services will be Wednesday, 1 p.m. at Graceland Memorial Park Cemetery, Owasso, Okla.

Services are entrusted to Stephens Memorial Chapel.
