She was born July 19, 1921 in Mack's Creek, Mo., to Jim and Lillie Miller.
Mabel worked proudly during WWII as a riveter at the North American Aviation Plant in Fairfax, Kan.
She was a long-time member and employee of Bethany Baptist Church in Kansas City, Mo.
All who were fortunate to call her mom, grandma, aunt or friend were blessed indeed. Mabel will be remembered for her wit and sense of humor and her positive outlook on life.
Mabel was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Velvey Harris; infant daughter, Phyllis Mae; her stepfather, Roscoe Hart; brothers, Jimmy and Frank Miller; sisters, Mildred Shinn and Margaret Parks; grandson, Rick Polley; granddaughter, Mary Amanda Larrabee; stepsons, Ernest and Earl Harris.
Survivors include, four daughters, Alma Quick, of Independence, Mo.; Pam Turner, of Fort Scott, Kan., who was her loving caregiver; Eileen Nelson, of Seattle, Wash.; and Juanita Harris, of Neosho Rapids, Kan.; daughter-in-law, Joyce Harris; son, Fred Hart; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and many friends.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m., Friday, May 28, 2010 at Floral Hills Funeral Home.
The family will receive friends from 12:30-2 p.m. at the funeral home on Friday.
Burial will follow services at Forest Hill Memorial Park.
