Jayhawk-Linn, which took second place in boys' and girls' team standings, qualified 21 while Uniontown had the other seven. Those competitors will compete in the Kansas State Track and Field Meet in Wichita Friday and Saturday.
Olpe won the girls' team title with 122 1/2 points while Jayhawk-Linn finished with 89. Elbing Berean Academy was third with 51 1/2 points. Uniontown tied for fourth with Oswego with 41 points.
Berean Academy won the boys' title with 115 points with the Jayhawks following with 74. Olpe was third with 66. Uniontown tied for 13th with Oxford with 8 points.
The top six finishers in each event medaled with the top four qualifying for State.
Uniontown senior Abbie Smith was Regional champ in two events and a State qualifier in three. Smith won long jump -- an even in which she has won three State medals -- by a wide margin. Smith's distance was 17 feet, 5 1/4 inches. The runner-up, Olpe's Emily Redeker, went 15' 7". Emily Aikins, who was at Uniontown last year but is at Jayhawk-Linn now, was fourth at 14' 6 1/4". Aikins, a junior, qualified for State in this event last year for the Eagles.
Smith also claimed the 100-meter hurdles title with a time of 15.62 seconds in finals, beating out Jayhawk senior Morgan Eastwood, who ran a 16.32. Both competitors return to State in this event, with Eastwood qualifying the past three years in Class 3A.
Eastwood will also return for the fourth straight year in the 300-meter hurdles while Smith will be back for the third time in four years, missing her sophomore year. Eastwood was second here in 48.06 seconds while Smith was third in 50.50. Brianna Blackwell, a freshman from Herington, was the winner in 47.93.
Jayhawk senior Briar Snyder will be a four-time State qualifier in both hurdles events. The defending Class 3A 110 hurdles champ won the 2A Regional title in 15.25, beating Herington's Tyler Barber by .22 seconds. Snyder won the 300's in 40.08, beating Barber by .85 seconds. Snyder was second in the 300's last year
Jayhawk-Linn senior Steven Mann is another two-event winner. He qualifies for long jump and triple jump all four years after winning both titles here and also advances in the 100-meter dash, qualifying for the second time in that event.
In long jump, Mann, last year's 3A State runner-up, cleared 22' 10" and was just one of two competitors to clear 21 feet. Barber of Herington picked up his third second-place finish of the meet by going 21' 4". Uniontown senior Ben DIxon also qualified for State with his fourth-place mark of 20' 0 1/2". Dixon qualifies for the second consecutive year.
Mann won triple jump at 47' 1 3/4", moving on again after taking third in this event at State last year. Barber -- again -- was runner-up at 45' 9 1/2". Mann was third in the 100 meters in 11.38, finishing behind to Colgan runners -- winner Austin Riggs (11.09) and runner-up Christian Smith (11.34).
Taylor Dawson, a Jayhawk senior, won the 800-meter run and will be a four-year State qualifier. This is the fourth different individual event in which she has made State, taking this race in 2:26.76. Dawson was fourth in 3A 400 meters at State last year, sixth in 3A long jump in 2008 while also qualifying in the 200 meters, and was Class 3A long jump champ as a freshman. And that doesn't include five medal-winning appearances in relays.
Jayhawk junior Chelsea Beckman is the final individual Regional champ, winning discus with a mark of 105' 10". Beckman will return in this event for the third time after winning here by a little over 8 feet. Uniontown sophomore Jacy Ermel also advanced with a fourth-place mark of 96' 4".
Jayhawk-Linn also won two girls' relays. The 4x400 team -- which featured two members from the team that won Class 3A in 2008 -- ran a 4:15.07 to beat Olpe by about 6 seconds. Eastwood, Beckman, Meriel Long and Dawson made up this team. Eastwood and Dawson were on the '08 champion team while they and Long were on last year's State runner-up.
The 4x100 relay team ran a 52.03 to win by nearly a second over Howard-West Elk. Aikins, Beckman, Dawson and Eastwood competed here. The latter three were on the relay when it took third at State in 2008 and second in 2009.
Jayhawk-Linn's boys' 4x1 relay also moves on to State. Colgan took first in the race in 44.05, beating the Jayhawks by just 0.05 seconds. Mann, Bryce Northcutt, Dylan Thyer and Snyder were on this relay. The relay has placed seventh at State the past two years with Mann and Snyder on both those teams and Thyer on last year's team.
Ermel won a second medal with a second-place finish in shot put. She had a best mark of 34' 6 3/4". Rachel Hall of Olpe won the event at 35' 2 3/4". While Ermel will be one of the Eagles' four State returnees, she won't be back in the event in which she made State last year, javelin, although she ends up with a two-for-one trade.
The final Uniontown qualifier is a freshman. Trenton Miller was fourth in discus at 130 feet even. Karlin Wiebe of Berean Academy was the winner at 150' 4".
Thyer, a Jayhawk senior, will go to State in two events. He returns in the 200-meters with a third-place finish in 23.18 and qualifies for the first time in the 400 with a second-place time of 52.14. Colgan's Austin Riggs won both events, the 200 in 23.10 and the 400 in 49.32.
Long is also a double qualifier. She took second in high jump at 4' 10" with Xannie Quiring of Berean winning at 5 feet even. Long was fourth in the 1,600 in 5:58.35. These will be new State events for Long, a senior, who qualified the last two years in the 800.
Amory Miller finished third in javelin for Jayhawk-Linn, going 107' 7". Olpe claimed the top two spots with Kendyl McDougald winning at 136' 3" and Rachel Hall taking second at 112' 8". Miller qualified in this event last year and in the 100-meter hurdles in 2008.
Jayhawk junior Shelby Krull was positioned third in girls' pole vault after a three-way tie at 9 feet. Berean's Tiffany Veer was first and Colgan's Emmalia White was second. The number of attempts needed to clear the bar was the tie-breaker with the fewest tries placed first. Krull qualified in this event in 2008 but missed State last year.
Jayhawk sophomore Trevor LaPorte will be a first-time State qualifier as he was fourth in pole vault at 10' 6", with tie-breakers breaking another three-way tie. Berean's Seth Entz won at 12 feet.
Other medalists:
* Ermel finished fifth in girls' javelin at 94' 8", winning a third medal at the Regional.
* Jayhawk freshman Lane Harris was fifth in boys' 400 in 53.60.
* Uniontown senior Jessica Schaaf finished sixth in the girls' 1,600 in 6:29.61.
