Betty Mae "Peggy" Clarkson, age 80, resident of Cavalry Crossing Apartments, 201 W. 23rd Street, Fort Scott, died early Wednesday, May 19, 2010, at her home.
She was born May 15, 1930, in Richards, Mo., the daughter of Francis Marion Brown and Stella Gertrude McDaniel Brown.
She was a 1949 graduate of Fort Scott High School.
Following graduation, she married Richard J. "Blackie" Clarkson on Oct. 15, 1950, in Pawnee Station, Kan. He preceded her in death on Nov. 3, 2005.
Peggy was the office clerk at Peerless Products for 23 years.
She was a member of the Cherry Grove Baptist Church and the Hiattville Eastern Star for over 50 years.
Survivors include one son, Richie Clarkson and wife Annie, Fort Scott; and one brother, Lawrence E. "Shorty" Brown, Fort Scott.
She is also survived by three granddaughters, Tricia Heckadon-Daniels and husband Darrell, Bryna J. Clarkson-Boldra and her husband Jeremy, and Tiffani L. Clarkson, and two great grandsons, Landon and Keenan Boldra.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and one brother Melvin Francis "Brownie" Brown.
Dr. Dale Cummins will conduct funeral services at 11:30 a.m., Monday in the Cheney Witt Chapel.
Burial will follow in the U. S. National Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 10:30 a.m. until service time on Monday at the funeral home.
