Vivian Mildred Ralls, age 95, a former resident of rural Uniontown, Kan., and more recently of the Fort Scott Manor, died Sunday, May 2, 2010, at the Fort Scott Manor in Fort Scott, Kan.
She was born April 23, 1915, in at the family home Pittsburg, Kan., the daughter of Russell Pryer and Ethel Evaline Spencer Pryer.
Vivian graduated from Pittsburg High School in 1934.
She later went on to attend the Bresee Nazarene College in Hutchinson, Kan., and the Kansas State Teachers College in Pittsburg, Kan..
She received her Lifetime Teachers Certificate in 1939. She taught school in Joplin, Mo., and Treece, Kan., prior to moving to Bourbon County in 1942 where she taught at both the Concord School and the Petersburg School.
This is where she met and married Floyd Ralls of Uniontown. Vivian and Floyd were married on Oct. 22, 1943, in Pittsburg.
Mr. and Mrs. Ralls spent their married life on their farm south of Uniontown.
Vivian moved to the Marmaton Valley Nursing Home in June of 1999 and later to the Fort Scott Manor in the Spring of 2002.
Survivors include two sons, Floyd Ralls, Jr. and wife, Sharon, Cimarron, Kan., and Bill Ralls and wife, Cheryl, Colwich, Kan.
Also surviving are four grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Floyd, who died Nov. 11, 2001; a brother, Russell Pryer; and four sisters, Ruth Rhuems, Opal McClung, Virginia McGrew and Geneva Heath.
Rev. Chub Bolling will conduct funeral services at 11 a.m., Monday, May 10, 2010, at the Cheney Witt Chapel.
Burial will follow in the Mason Cemetery south of Uniontown.
The family will receive friends on Monday from 10 a.m. until service time at the Cheney Witt Chapel.
