"We're just going to pray for good weather because we've had some bad weather in the past," Kiwanis member Bob Eckles said.
The event is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 27, at Shelter House No. 2 in Gunn Park, 1010 Park Ave. Before the event, about 1,000 eggs stuffed with money, candy, coupons and other items donated by community members and area businesses will be hidden in the park near the shelter house. Eckles said the Easter Bunny is also scheduled to make an appearance at the event.
Children who participate in the egg hunt will be divided into two different groups -- kids of preschool and kindergarten age and kids in upper elementary school grades -- for two separate hunts. Kiwanis members will be present during the event to help direct youth during the hunt. Eckles said organizers expect about 75-100 kids to participate in the event.
