The event will be hosted by the National Resources Conservation Service of Bourbon County, the Farm Service Agency of Bourbon County, the Bourbon County Extension Office, and the Bourbon County Conservation District, along with Kansas Wildlife and Parks.
The educational program will begin at 10 a.m. and a burn demonstration is planned following lunch at about 12:30 p.m. if weather permits.
The session will cover issues related to prescribed burns, such as why to burn, safety while burning, equipment, weather, and fires for wildlife, timber stands, range management and Conservation Reserve Program maintenance. Local equipment rental will also be addressed.
A registration fee of $5 must be paid at the door to cover lunch and materials. Registration is due to the NRCS office by March 24 by calling (620) 223-1880. In addition, please notify the Bourbon County Extension Office at least two business days prior to the event if accommodations are needed for persons with disabilities.
