ARKANSAS CITY -- Fort Scott Community College sophomores Valencia Kelly and Ramell Taylor were named to their respective Eastern Division Second Teams by the Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference Thursday afternoon.

Kelly, from Brunswick, Ga., was 10th in the Jayhawk Conference in scoring this season, averaging 15.9 points per game, despite missing six games due to injuries and illness.

The women's First Team has sophomores Satoria Bell and Kellindra Zackery of Labette, Sadie Webb of Independence, Bjonee Raves of Neosho County, Gianna Woods of Cowley and Melissa Nelson of Johnson County.

With Kelly on the Second Team are sophomores Karli Abbey of Highland and Tasha Cannon of Coffeyville and freshmen Taylor Bird of Johnson County and Alyssa Rushton of Kansas City Kansas.

The Honorable Mention list has sophomores Tori Halvorsen of Independence, Kaneesha Lee of Cowley, Sheay Longstaff of Coffeyville and Kristin Aldridge of Neosho County and freshman Breanna Shaw of Allen County.

Bell was named the division's Most Valuable Player while Bird was chosen as the Freshman of the Year

Ben Conrad of Johnson County, whose Cavaliers finished second in the division, was named Coach of the Year.

The women's team is still active in post-season play after a first-round upset of Cloud County at Concordia Tuesday night. The Greyhounds (14-17) face Eastern Division champion Labette (28-3) in a Region VI Tournament quarterfinal this afternoon at 1 p.m. in Wichita.

Taylor, from Detroit, Mich., was sixth in the conference in scoring at 16.8 points per game. He was the one consistent scoring threat on a team that finished the season with a 4-27 record.

The men's First Team had sophomores Antoine Lundy of Neosho County, Andra Bailey of Allen County and David Luster of Johnson County along with freshmen Tyrus McGee of Cowley and Jamar Gulley of Highland.

Joining Taylor on the Second Team were sophomore Derrick Denney of Kansas City Kansas and freshmen Dennis Tinnon of KCK, Anthony Downing of Independence and Kevin Broussard of Coffeyville.

The Honorable Mention list has sophomores Garland McArthur from Labette, Keith Biggers from Coffeyville, Rashano McRae from Highland and Kyle Speed from Johnson County and freshmen Stacy Wilson from Coffeyville and Dominick Cornelius of Johnson County.

Lundy was named MVP while McGee earned Freshman of the Year Honors. Tommy DeSalme of Cowley, who won the division title in his first year as head coach, was named Coach of the Year.

An All-Conference team that picks the best players regardless of division is usually selected shortly after the All-Division teams are picked. There is also likely to be an All-Region VI Division I team chosen soon as well.
