Thursday, March 4, 2010

Kim Brown, the sister of children's author Marc Brown, speaks to students and teachers at Winfield Scott Elementary School during a special presentation Tuesday as part of National Read Across America Day, an initiative on reading created by the National Education Association. The observance takes place every year on March 2, which is also the birthday of Dr. Seuss, a famous writer who is also widely known for his children's books. Marc Brown wrote the popular "Arthur" series of children's books and its spin-offs. Kim talked to students and teachers about her brother's life and career and how he came up with ideas and characters for the "Arthur" books.
