No classes at elementary schools Friday

There will be an elementary teacher planning day for Winfield Scott and Eugene Ware schools on Friday. There will be no classes for elementary students on this day. Fort Scott Middle School and Fort Scott High School students will have classes on Friday.

Never did understand why the grade school teachers needed a day for planning but the middle & high school instructors don't. This also seems like it could be a hardship for working parents. Their grade school kids are out for the day and all the older ones, who could provide child care, are in school. I know of parents who have to take vacation time from work because of these planning days. It just doesn't seem right to me.
