By virtue of winning all his matches Friday, Davis (33-9) earned his berth into finals Saturday where he was pitted against senior Zac Sparr of Rose Hill (33-2) who had finished either second or third in his previous three trips to the State Tournament. Sparr held a 5-1 lead after two periods using an aggressive style.
Davis took Sparr down early in the third period to get within 2 points. But Sparr escaped, and then took Davis down again for the final 3 points in an 8-3 decision.
Sharp (40-11) had a longer path to a medal after he fell into consolation Friday but started off Saturday with a 12-8 decision over Jared Johnson of Easton-Pleasant Ridge. Next, he won a 7-6 verdict over Colby Soden of Baldwin. In the consolation semifinals, Logan Singular of Clay Center took a 7-0 decision.
That dropped Sharp into the fifth-place match, which he won on a 3-2 decision over Jake Mertina (39-12) of Valley Center.
Fort Scott's third and final wrestler at State was Sharp's freshman brother, Tyler. He had dropped into consolation on Friday as well and was unable to regain his footing on Saturday as Ulysses' Jason Perez won by pinfall to eliminate Sharp after a 33-17 season.

And to think Ft Scott tried to railroad this young MAN. Keep Your Head UP!!!! Denzell Davis is a good kid. I could never play for a team in Ft Scott after the way they did him. Maybe they need to take some lesson's from him. he is more human than any of those who wronged him. GOD IS GOOD.!!!!
