40 medals for FSHS forensics

Tuesday, February 16, 2010
On Saturday, the Fort Scott High School forensic squad traveled to compete in three tournaments.

According to FSHS coach Brian Weilert, the Tiger squad placed 18 events into finals at the Kansas City Sumner Academy tournament and easily won first place, nearly 60 points in front of the second-place school. The Baldwin tournament was also good for Fort Scott as 15 events made their way to finals, which again was good enough for the sweepstakes title. The final tournament took place at Parsons where the Tiger squad competed well, finishing in third place. Seven Tiger finalists at this tournament made for a weekend total of 40 medalists in a single weekend. Among the medalists were 17 state championship qualifiers, who did so by finishing their tournament in first or second place in the event or events in which they competed.
