Mary J. Campbell, 89, of Columbus, Kan., passed away Feb. 9, 2010 at St John's Medical Center in Joplin, Mo.
Mary was born on December 27, 1920 in Fort Scott, Kansas the daughter of Robert and Mary (Thompson) Campbell.
Mary was lifelong resident of Fort Scott where her family owned and operated The Rock Creek Dairy farm.
She attended Fort Scott schools.
She was a member of The First Christian Church in Fort Scott.
She spent a lot of time enjoying her God given talent playing the piano and organ.
She cared about the simple things in life; she loved watching over the geese in the pond.
Her greatest joy was spending time with her family.
She was married to Walter Glenn Campbell for over 50 years.
She is survived by one son; Ronald Campbell of Herford, Ariz., one daughter; Kay Amyx and husband Bill of Columbus, Kan., six grandchildren; Ron Amyx, Kim Brown, Tammy Perry, Christopher Campbell, Mary Kay Darren and Dan Campbell, eight great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and six siblings.
Mary has been cremated. Memorial services for Mary will be held Friday, Feb. 12, 2010 11 a.m. at Murdock Funeral Home Columbus, Kan., with Justin Coberly officiating.
Burial will take place at a later date.
Memorial contributions may be made to the First Christian Church of Fort Scott, Kan., with the funeral home serving as custodian.
