Uniontown sweeps Chetopa in league doubleheader

UNIONTOWN -- Uniontown swept a Three Rivers League doubleheader here Tuesday night. Eagle girls defeated visiting Chetopa 55-31 while the boys' defeated the Hornets 37-34.

Jacy Ermel scored 24 points and hauled down 17 rebounds for Uniotown's girls (2-1 TRL, 9-5 overall) while Abbie Smith scored 15 points.

"We had a size advantage and we got inside early," Uniontown head coach Ken Holt said. "The girls did a great job of setting up Jacy and Abbie."

Only three players scored for Uniontown's boys (2-1, 6-8) and the Eagles scored just 2 points in the third quarter but they still found a way to win.

Ben Dixon scored 16 points for Uniontown while Brenton Esslinger added 12.

Uniontown's teams host Marmaton Valley Friday night in a league doubleheader. They also host Southern Coffey County in make-up games Saturday.
