The Jayhawks (1-2 Pioneer, 10-3 overall) traied 14-10 after the first quarter but turned things around by outscoring the Trojans (1-1, 4-7) 11-3 in the second.
Osawatomie outscored Jayhawk-Linn in the second half, 25-23, but missed all four free throws it attempted in the fourth quarter.
"(The Trojans) played hard and are well-coached,' Jayhawk head coach Charlie Beckman said. "We did lots of very good things but shooting 3 of 13 from the foul line was not good. We need to relax and not put so much pressure on ourselves."
Dawson had 6 rebounds for the 'Hawks.
Osawatomie boys defeated Jayhawk-Linn, 67-15. The Trojans, ranked No. 10 in Class 4A by the Kansas Basketball Coaches Association, improved to 2-0, 10-2. The Jayhawks fell to 0-3, 5-8.
Jayhawk-Linn traveled to Wellsville Tuesday night and will hit the road to take on Prairie View Friday night. Both doubleheaders will be Pioneer League contests.
