Amory Miller scored the game-clinching basket --although Uniontown got a look at a possible winning 3-pointer in the final seconds -- and held on for a 36-33 victory Tuesday night.
According to Eagle head coach Ken Holt, Breanna Esslinger hit a 3-pointer with 38 seconds left. The Eagles (7-5) got another shot at the basket and missed. Abbie Smith had the rebound, but in the melee somehow lost it. Miller came up with the ball and hit the shot that made it a 3-point game.
Hold said that the Eagles got another good look at a 3-pointer but the shot wouldn't fall.
"It was another great game," Holt said. "We just came up short."
Taylor Dawson and Meriel Long scored 8 points each to lead Jayhawk-Linn (9-3) while Chelsea Beckman added 7. Jacy Ermel had 10 points and 11 rebounds for Uniontown.
Jayhawk-Linn will host Central Heights in a Pioneer League game Friday night. Uniontown is idle until Tuesday when it entertains Chetopa.
