Fort Scott Tribune: High School Sports: Uniontown girls advance at Pleasanton (01/21/10)

PLEASANTON -- Uniontown's girls advanced into the championship semifinals of the Pleasanton Tournament with a 55-16 rout of Humboldt in the first round on Tuesday.

The Eagles (6-3) will face Prairie View at 7 p.m. tonight in Pleasanton's north gym.

Tiffany Poyner led Uniontown with a season-high 14 points. Abbie Smith followed with 12 and Brooke Harper added 10.

Turnovers were the big key. The Eagles only committed 15 while Humboldt was reported with 54.

In other girls' games, Jayhawk-Linn beat Crest, 59-18, Central Heights throttled Pleasanton, 40-11, and Prairie View advanced with a 62-31 victory over Northeast.

In boys' action, Jayhawk-Linn defeated Uniontown, 28-26, Central Heights beat Pleasanton, 61-41, Crest advanced over Prairie View, 50-43, and Humboldt defeated Northeast, 57-41.

Tonight's other girls' games have Jayhawk-Linn against Central Heights at 4 p.m. in the north gym, Humboldt versus Northeast at 4 in the south gym, and Crest facing Pleasanton at 8:30 p.m. in the south gym.

Boys' action sees Crest against Jayhawk-Linn in the north gym at 5:30, Central Heights vs. Humboldt in the south gym at 5:30, Pleasanton taking on Northeast in the south gym at 7 and Uniontown against Prairie View in the south gym at 8:30.
