Body found near Mulberry Id'd

The Crawford County Sheriff's Office released a statement Tuesday identifying the body found just outside Mulberry Sunday evening as that of Richard Davis.

The body was discovered Sunday after the CCSO received information leading officers to a strip pit northwest of Mulberry.

Davis was reported missing on Oct. 30, 2009, and foul play was suspected. Through investigation into Davis' disappearance, Duane Wahl, of Mulberry, was arrested on Dec. 9, 2009, for the murder of Davis and has been incarcerated in the Crawford County Jail since that arrest and is being held without bond.

Preliminary indications as to the cause of Davis' death have been received however that information is not being released at this time as the investigation remains active.
