SAN ANTONIO, Texas -- Fort Scott High School senior Torie Simons and junior Hali Eads were part of a 260-member halftime show performance at the Alamo Bowl on January 2.

Simons and Eads were both invited to participate in the show and traveled to San Antonio on December 31. The game itself pitted Michigan State and Texas A&M universites, both of which had been embroiled in controversies prior to the game.

Both girls are members of the Fort Scott High School dance team and have taken dance lessons from Susan Stern. Simons is also a gymnast and tumbler. Simons was one of six girls who were qualified to tumble during the show as well as dance. Simons took her gymnastics lessons at The Flipshop in Jopln.

Simons and Eads along with the other dancers and gymnasts from across the country, had to take part in three very long practices in the days before the game. Over 60,000 spectators attended the game and watched the halftime show.

"When it was over, Torie and Hali came off the field very excited and said it was the most fun thing they had ever done and they would love to do it again," Simons' mother, Kim, said.
