James Robert LaBelle Sr., age 65, resident of Marion, Kan., died Friday, Jan. 8, 2010, at the Post Acute Center in Bel Aire, Kan., near Wichita.
He was born Nov. 20, 1944, in Fort Scott, Kan., the son of Paul LaBelle and Katherine Wheaton LaBelle.
He attended St. Mary's Catholic School in Fort Scott in his earlier years.
James married Wanda Schneider on Nov. 29, 2003, in Wichita. She preceded him in death on July 30, 2009.
He was retired from Boeing Aircraft following 25 years of employment. James also owned and operated his tax and accounting business.
He was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church in McPherson and the Knights of Columbus. He was past president of the National Association of Tax Consultants and a member of the National Society of Accountants.
His hobbies include bowling.
Survivors include a son, Kevin LaBelle, Eldorado, Kan.; one daughter, Tina Marie Boley, Wichita, Kan.; a brother, William (Joe) LaBelle, Wichita; and a half sister, Linda Kay Moss, Boling Springs, S.C. He also is survived by 12 grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents, and a son, James LaBelle, Jr.
Father Davis Lies will conduct the Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m., Wednesday, Jan. 13, in the St. Joseph Catholic Church in McPherson.
The Rosary will be recited at 9:30 a.m. prior to the service.
Father Darin May will conduct graveside services at 3:30 p.m., Wednesday, in the St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Fort Scott.
