DERICK STEVEN "D-ROD" DRYDEN

Derick Dryden, age 25, of Ottawa, Kan., died Sunday, Dec. 6, 2009.

He was born on Tuesday, Oct. 16, 1984, in Ottawa, Kan.

He was the son of Steve and Karen (Johnson) Dryden.

He was a lifelong Ottawa resident.

Derick graduated from Ottawa High School with the class of 2004 and Fort Scott Junior College in 2007 with a degree in Agricultural Science.

On May 9, 2009, Derick was united in marriage with Amber Snover in Ottawa, Kan.

The past two years, Derick worked as an automotive painter with his father at Steve's Auto Plaza Body Shop in Lawrence, Kan.

He also worked with Watts and Harris family farms and the past two years was an auctioneer for Franklin County Auction Service.

He was a member of Future Farmers of America; Boy Scouts of America, achieving life rank; Kansas Livestock Association; National Rifle Association; Ducks Unlimited; Kansas High School Rodeo Association; and many more.

Funeral services will be held from the First Baptist Church of Ottawa, 10 a.m., Thursday, Dec. 10, 2009.

Derick will lie in state at the Dengel & Son Mortuary after 5 p.m. Wednesday, where the family will meet with friends from 7 to 8 Wednesday evening.

Burial will be at Highland Cemetery, Ottawa, Kan.

Survivors include his wife Amber Dryden, of their home; parents Steve and Karen Dryden, of Ottawa, Kan.; sister Stephanie Circle and her husband, Jason, of Ottawa, Kan.; sister Kristi Good and her husband, Aaron, of Ottawa, Kan.; maternal grandmother Geraldine Johnson of Ottawa, Kan.; paternal grandmother Darlene Dryden of Ottawa, Kan.; niece Teigan Good of Ottawa, Kan.; nephew Justin Circle of Ottawa, Kan.; nephew Shane Circle of Ottawa, Kan.; and a daughter, Derick's dog, Dally Girl.

He is also survived by many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Derick was preceded in death by a brother, Michael Austin Dryden, his maternal grandfather, Clyde O. Johnson, paternal grandfather, John Dryden, niece Sadye Circle and nephew Trevor Wormell.
