Senior Swingers donate to school in rememberance

It was a rainy evening but we did have a fair group of dancers at Buck Run Community Center. They were slow in comming but Mary Sue had some help from the boys that were practing basket ball. They quit at 5:30 p.m. and I asked the last ones if they would help with the tables and chairs and that was all it took.

The band members were already to play but we waited until 6:30 p.m. and started. The music is all it takes to get them on the floor.

We were surprised to see Lonnie Engle show up but he said he just had to get out.

We all signed a Sympathy card for Lonnie and Joan Engle and he picked it up as he was leaving. We also had a folder for donations for the Athletics at the High School in Liberal. That is something that the Monday Night Dancers could do and feel they had been remembered.

John Gaddy from Pittsburg is in the hospital down there. He has been having some problems the past couple months. Hope this will clear up his troubles.

We were glad to see the two couples from near Blue Mound that do like to dance. They will dance with others that do not have a partner.

I did receive a call from Neva Hite Monday evening before I went down to the center. They were both OK. Neva said Alva had her working outside most of the day and they both didn't feel like comming to the dance. He usually comes early and helps put out the chairs and tables . We had some rain this Monday afternoon and didn't get outside any.

We all went to Nevada Saturday afternoon for the funeral of Lonnie and Joans' son. It was a big one and the visitation started at one p.m. and didn't get thru before the funeral at 2 p.m.

There will be a dance at the Community Center in Nevada this Friday Night. It is the third Friday of the month instead of the fourth, which is the day after Thanksgiving and they voted on it.

There will be a dance at Cadmus Friday night too. We like to be represented up there when we can.

I Talked to Josephine Brillhart Monday afternoon. She is out of the hospital and home with an oxygen tank on all the time but her voice sounded good. She will be back in a week or two.

Lawrence Bowles is doing fair in the hospital after having a hip replacement. Una Bowles is at Mapleton but she comes in every day and checks on Lawrence. She is doing fair. She has oxygen all the time now.

We seem to be loosing more of our senior dancers all the time. We with the Band try to kep it going.
