Tigers unable to advance to State

EL DORADO -- Fort Scott High School's cross country season came to an end here Saturday as no member of the team was able to finish high enough to qualify for the State meet.

Fort Scott's boys posted the following finishes over 5 kilometers: Robert Sellers, 36th in 18:38; Keenan Gregory, 58th in 19:52; Charlie Sercer, 69th in 20:30; Colton Ballou, 80th in 21:16; Anthony Sercer, 85th in 21:59; and Austin Sather, 87th in 22:17.

Times for the girls over 4 kilometers were: Jenna Harper, 38th in 18:26; Leah Cassleman, 55th in 19:14; Morgan Tourtillott, 58th in 19:21; Megan Midkiff, 75th in 20:21; and Autumn Owensby, 82nd in 21:55.

Mulvane won the boys' team title with 16 points as the Wildcats has the top four individual finishes and five of the top six. Chanute was the best Southeast Kansas League team here with 133 point for fifth place. The Tigers finished 12th with 307 points.

A freshman, Morgan Wedekind of Valley Center, won the girls' race in 14:51.29. Chanute was the team champion with 67 points with Valley Center second with 73. Fort Scott finished 12th with 291 points.
