Brown ties for 25th in Class 4A

HUTCHINSON -- Fort Scott High junior Kacie Brown finished tied for 25th place at the Kansas Class 4A State Golf Tournament here Monday. Brown shot 53's on each nine to finish with a total of 106.

The score was the same as Brown recorded at State last season, when she finished 38th. She did not qualify as a freshman in 2007.

The team champion for the second year in a row is Topeka Hayden, which shot 348. Concordia was a distant second at 411.

Individually, Hayden's Brooke LaRue shot 37-38--75 to beat out teammate and defending State champ Lauren Falley for the title. Falley shot 42-40--82. Concordia's Cassie Lowell, third at State last year, finished third at 43-49--92.

Chanute, the Southeast Kansas League champion, finished ninth at 471. Taylor Gard was the Blue Comets' only individual medalist, finishing eighth at 46-49--95. Girard's Tessa Westhoff (53-50) tied for 20th place, and the last medal, with Hayden's Courtney Koehn (46-57) as both shot 103.
