Frank Leon Jensen, age 71, a former resident of Fort Scott, and more recently of the Kansas City area, died Friday, October 16, 2009, at St. Luke Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri.
He was born October 8, 1938, in Hennessy, Oklahoma, the son of William C. Jensen and Dorothy Iven Jensen.
He was a graduate of Hepler High School. Frank married Jean Flagg on June 13, 1959. They later divorced. Frank was retired as a truck driver for the Kansas Department of Transportation. He was a member of Mary Queen of Angels Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus. He loved bowling, fishing, and watching football.
Survivors include three daughters, Cheryl Doerfler and husband Doug, Lee's Summit, Mo., Cathy Brynds, Lawrence, and Amber Vest and husband Aaron, Fort Scott; three brothers, William Jensen Jr., Poteet, Texas, Jim Jensen, Hillsdale, and Donald Jensen, San Antonio, Texas. Also surviving are seven grandchildren, Dustan, Derek and Danielle Doerfler, Jennifer and Jaron Brynds, Shylen and Adrianna Vest; and one great-grandson, Dawson Doerfler. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister-in-law, Sonja Jensen.
Father Darrin May will conduct Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. Tuesday in the Mary Queen of Angels Catholic Church. Graveside services will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday in the Lee's Summit City Cemetery. The Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Monday followed by visitation in the Cheney Witt Chapel.
